1. Introduction
Welcome to Intero ("Intero," "we," "us," or "our"). We are dedicated to empowering you on your health journey while rigorously protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application, Intero (the "Application").
This policy is designed to help you understand:
- What information we collect and why.
- How we use that information, including our use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- How we share information and with whom.
- The choices and control you have over your data.
By creating an account and using the Application, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. Your use of our Application is contingent upon your explicit consent to the processing of your sensitive health data as described below.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information that is essential to providing and improving our service. This includes Personal Data and what is legally considered Sensitive Personal Information (such as health data).
A. Information You Provide Directly to Us
- Account Information: When you create an Intero account, we collect your name, date of birth, and gender. To secure your account, you will authenticate using a third-party service.
- Third-Party Authentication (Google Sign-In / Sign in with Apple): If you choose to sign up using these services, we receive your email address and name from them to create your account. We do not receive or store your password for these third-party services.
- Phone Number: If you provide your mobile phone number, we use it to send you SMS/text messages related to your account and health check-ins, including verification codes, daily reminders, and service notifications, as described in Section 3 and Section 12.
- Health and Wellness Information (Sensitive Data): The core of Intero involves collecting information you voluntarily provide through our daily interviews. This includes, but is not limited to, data about your mood, physical symptoms, medication adherence, diet, activity levels, sleep patterns, and answers to other health-related questions. We collect this Sensitive Personal Information only with your explicit consent, which you provide when you agree to use the Application.
B. Information from Connected Third-Party Services
- Wearable and Health Platform Data (Sensitive Data): With your explicit permission, we can connect to services like Apple Health and Google Fit. We will only collect the specific data categories you authorize us to access, which currently include sleep data, step count, and heart rate. You can manage or revoke these permissions at any time within your device or Application settings.
C. Information We Collect Automatically
- Usage and Device Information: To maintain and improve our Application, we automatically collect technical information. This includes app crash data, usage analytics (telemetry), your device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers.
- Information We Do Not Collect: We want to be clear about what we don't collect. We do not collect or store your device's IP address.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To Provide and Personalize Our Service: We use your personal and health data to power the AI models that generate your personalized health assessments.
- To Improve Our AI Models and Services: We use anonymized and aggregated data to train and improve our artificial intelligence (AI) models. "Anonymized and aggregated" data has been stripped of all personal identifiers and combined with data from other users, so it cannot be used to identify you individually.
- For Medical Research: We may use anonymized and aggregated data for medical research purposes to contribute to the scientific understanding of health and wellness. This research data is never personally identifiable.
- To Communicate With You: To send you essential service-related communications, including SMS/text messages (such as daily health check-in reminders, account verification codes, and support messages), in-app notifications, email updates, and other service messages. Message frequency varies based on your settings and usage. We will only send marketing text messages or emails if you explicitly opt in.
- For Security and Compliance: To protect the security of our Application, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations.
4. How We Share Your Information
Your privacy and trust are paramount. We do not and will not sell your personal data. Period. We only share your information in the following, limited circumstances:
- With Service Providers: We use trusted third-party vendors to help us operate our Application, such as Google Cloud Platform & Firebase for hosting, database management, and analytics, and Twilio for SMS delivery. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and are prohibited from using it for any other purpose.
- With Healthcare Partners (At Your Direction): We will share your health data with a designated healthcare partner only if you have given explicit, direct consent for that specific partner to access your Intero data.
- For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
- Business Transfers: If Intero is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, we will provide prominent notice before your data is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.
5. Data Security
We implement robust administrative, technical, and physical security measures designed to protect your information, including encryption of your data both in transit and at rest, and strict access controls.
6. Your Privacy Rights & Choices
We believe in providing strong, consistent privacy rights to all our users. You have the following rights over your data, which you can exercise at any time:
- The Right to Know and Access: You have the right to know what personal information we collect and to request a copy of your data. You can access most of your data directly within the Application. For more information, please contact us.
- The Right to Correct: You have the right to correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal information. You can update your profile information directly in the app settings.
- The Right to Delete: You have the right to request the deletion of your account and personal data. You can do this directly from the app's settings, and the process is detailed in the "Data Retention and Deletion" section below.
- The Right to Withdraw Consent: You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. You can revoke permission for third-party services (like Apple Health) in your device settings, opt out of SMS by replying STOP to any message, or withdraw consent for the entire service by deleting your account.
- The Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not penalize you or provide a different level of service for exercising any of your privacy rights.

7. Data Retention and Deletion
You are in control of your data. You can delete your account at any time from within the Application settings.
When you request to delete your account, we immediately initiate a process to permanently erase your Personal Data and Sensitive Personal Information from our active systems. This includes your name, email, phone number, and all individual health entries that can be linked to you.
Please note that we may retain a version of your data that has been anonymized and aggregated. This data is stripped of all personal identifiers, cannot be linked back to you, and is used solely for the purposes of improving our AI models and for medical research, as described in Section 3.
8. Children's Privacy
Our service is not directed to or intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under 18.
9. International Data Transfers
Intero is operated in the United States. Your information will be processed and stored on our secure servers located in the United States. If you are using the Application from outside the U.S., you consent to the transfer, storage, and processing of your data in the U.S.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy within the Application, updating the "Effective Date" at the top, and/or sending you an email or SMS notification.
11. SMS Text Messaging Program
When you provide your mobile phone number and opt in to receive text messages from Intero, you agree to receive recurring automated SMS messages related to your use of the Application, which may include:
- Daily health check-in reminders
- Account verification and security codes
- Service updates and support messages
Message frequency varies based on your preferences and usage, typically up to several messages per week. Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any Intero text message. After you send STOP, we will send a one-time confirmation that you have been unsubscribed. You may reply HELP for help or contact us at support@interoai.com.
